Instructions

How to Make This Coffee Honey Scrub

  • Mix coffee grounds, honey and other, additional ingredients, if using, together to form a wet paste (like the one you can see in the picture).

How to Use This Coffee Honey Scrub

    Face Scrub/Mask

    • You can make a smaller batch here. I usually mix 1 tablespoon coffee with 1-2 teaspoons honey and add some almond oil until I achieve a wet paste.
    • Wash your face with warm water.
    • Apply small amounts of the face scrub onto your face and gently massage in circular motions. Leave out the eye area. You can massage softly over your lips for a lip scrub here as well!
If you like, leave the scrub on your face for 10 to 15 minutes as a mask before removing it.
    • Remove scrub with a wet and warm face towel or washer making sure nothing runs into your eyes.
    • Follow up with a serum and/or a nice nourishing moisturiser.

    Body Scrub/Cellulite Treatment

    • In the shower, wet your whole body first.
    • Then you apply body scrub all over your body in a circular motion. You can apply some pressure and rub the peeling on your skin to increase the blood flow. Just be gentler on your inner thighs and chest area.
    • Cellulite: vigorously massage affected areas (normally thighs and bottom) in a circular motion. It’s okay to apply some pressure here but don’t go over the top—you don’t want to hurt yourself. Rinse off body scrub and wash your body as you’re used to. Ideally with soap to get any coffee residue off the skin.

    Notes

    • For a face peeling, you need to choose fine coffee grounds (espresso coffee is fine enough) as well as fine sugar or salt, if using.
    • Oil/Water: This is optional. You can absolutely make this DIY scrub with just honey and coffee but adding oil or water stretches it a bit more. Plus, I find when I add oil, the scrub works a little better because it glides a lot more. You can use different oils here like sweet almond, olive or coconut oil.
    • Sugar/Salt: raw sugar works best for the body whereas brown sugar is better for the face (as it's finer). You can use any salt you like as long as it's not super crazy coarse!
    • Essential Oils: They simply add a nice scent but you can also add some that are beneficial for your skin.
