Dreaming of full, thick eyebrows, and looking for a natural way to get closer to your dream? Then, this easy DIY eyebrow growth serum might just be your answer! With its all-natural ingredients, it’s not only gentle but powerful and effective.

This homemade serum with its active ingredients encourages healthy hair growth naturally, without the harmful chemicals found in many commercial products.
It’s insanely easy to make at home with only a handful of ingredients. Tread onto the natural path and grow back your thin eyebrows, naturally! And using this DIY eyebrow serum, they’ll do so thicker and fuller!
In this post, I’ll show you how to create an effective and natural serum that will nourish your brows and help them grow stronger and thicker over time.
Benefits
- promotes eyebrow hair growth and re-growth
- stimulates the hair follicles
- fuller, thicker eyebrows naturally
- all-natural ingredients
- easy and simple to make at home
Whether you’re experiencing hair loss, including your eyebrows and lashes—for example, because of cancer treatments causing high oxidative stress or a deficiency—or whether you simply wish your thin eyebrows to be a tad fuller, so you don’t have to fill them out with an eyebrow pencil or tint them, this recipe is for you.
This DIY eyebrow growth serum will help you regrow lost eyebrow hairs by nourishing and stimulating the hair follicles. The active ingredients, such as rosemary oil, improve blood flow, thus bringing more nutrients to the roots, encouraging thicker hairs.

Additionally, the essential fatty acids, ricinoleic acid in particular, present in many natural oils, are responsible for the eyebrow growth magic. They boost blood circulation and consequently promote healthy hair growth.
This DIY eyebrow serum is incredibly easy to make with simple and effective ingredients, as opposed to store-bought serums that are often full of questionable ingredients that may irritate your skin.
As I hate to make false promises (unlike the beauty industry), I’d like to mention at this point that you please see this natural serum as support on your way to thicker eyebrows, and not as a miracle cure.
The eyebrow hair strength and fullness is genetically programmed. However, I’d like to think we can always improve our genetics (think epigenetics) and support the natural hair growth.
I’m also sure that you will notice an improvement using this eyebrow serum on a regular basis! Just don’t expect unnaturally thick eyebrows when yours are fairly thin to begin with.

- natural oils (castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil etc.)
- rosemary essential oil
- vitamin E oil
- aloe vera gel, optional
(see recipe card for quantities)
As you can see, and as promised, this amazing eyebrow growth serum recipe is simple! But you still want to read on, just to be on the safe side, and to make sure you fully understand the ingredients and their benefits.
Similar to hair growth serums or this natural DIY lash serum, we can use the same ingredients for our eyebrows. You can keep your serum as simple as using castor oil only! Or if you prefer a slightly more potent version, you can add more of the above-mentioned ingredients. It’s up to you!
Carrier Oils
Castor Oil
There’s a variety of natural oils that promote hair growth. The best oil that is most effective for our hair is castor oil. But I say this right from the start: Castor oil can be irritating to some people! Please do a patch test before using this DIY eyebrow growth serum (see ‘instructions’)!!
Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, an essential fatty acid, that stimulates blood circulation and enhances hair growth. While studies only prove that it has a positive effect on scalp hair, it doesn’t mean it won’t work on our eyebrows, too. Honestly, I don’t see why it shouldn’t.
As with most natural beauty products, you simply have to trust the anecdotal evidence. Plus, see it for yourself and give this recipe a go. It’s not like the ingredients will harm your brows in any way!

Rosehip Oil
Rosehip oil is my favourite, go-to oil when it comes to hair and skin health. It’s an effective ingredient that’s becoming more and more popular in the (natural) beauty industry due to its tissue-regenerating properties and anti-ageing effect.
A study shows that this amazing oil increased the bulb size of hair follicles, which resulted in thicker hair and faster regrowth. It strengthens the hair follicle, thus preventing premature hair loss.
Additionally, it contains linoleic and linolenic fatty acids that nourish and moisturise the skin, creating a healthy environment for the eyebrow hairs to grow in.
Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet almond oil is a nutrient-rich oil, high in fatty acids and vitamin E, encouraging stronger and thicker eyebrows whilst healing any damage and adding shine to the hairs.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of the safest oils we can use on our hair and skin! Due to the lauric acid, it seems to provide better and long-lasting protection compared to other oils.
Coconut oil deeply hydrates and protects the hair from protein loss, resulting in stronger hair follicles and less eyebrow hair loss!
The only downside with coconut oil is that it solidifies in cooler temperatures, making it less favourable if you want to apply your DIY eyebrow growth serum with a mascara wand. An alternative you could try is a high-quality MCT oil, or even fractionated coconut oil.

Essential Oils
There are many essential oils that benefit hair growth. My favourite essential oil is rosemary oil. It’s reputed to stimulate blood flow and prevent premature baldness. When it comes to hair care, it has truly proven to be most beneficial.
I use this ingredient in many of my DIY hair products (like this DIY rosemary hair oil) because of this. Another great oil is lavender essential oil.
Vitamin E Oil
Vitamin E oil is a great addition if you like to boost your serum. It nourishes our skin, prevents hair breakage and strengthens the hair follicles. However, it is not necessary in order for the brow serum to be effective.
Aloe Vera Gel
I’m listing this ingredient because some people love to add it to their hair growth serums—with good reason. Aloe vera is such an amazing ingredient when it comes to hair care.
It’s very hydrating, nourishing, and supports healthy hair growth. However, the downside of this ingredient is that it’s water-soluble, which means it won’t mix with the oils, and you’ll need to add an emulsifier, and possibly a preservative!
If you still like to use aloe vera gel for hair growth, I suggest you apply it on its own. You could massage a small amount into the brows before applying your serum.

Equipment
You don’t need anything fancy to make this DIY eyebrow growth serum, nor to apply it. A simple cotton swab or your clean fingers, and a glass jar will do the trick.
But an empty mascara tube (you can get them here on Amazon, affiliate link) with a wand will help you with a more precise application. It literally combs through your brow hairs, ensuring even distribution.
Instructions
Before We Start
Depending on the size of your tube or container, you will need to adjust the quantities. Check the amount of oil that your empty mascara tube or container is able to hold. Knowing the amount is crucial when adding rosemary oil (or any essential oil) for proper dilution!
For the essential oils, we want to aim for a 2-3 % dilution here. We want the serum to be effective enough, but not irritate our skin! You can check this dilution chart to see how many drops you’ll need.
How to make this DIY eyebrow growth serum

First, add the right amount of drops of rosemary oil, and vitamin E oil if using. Then, fill up the remaining space with the carrier oil(s).
If using a mascara tube, make sure you leave enough room at the top so that the wand still fits and won’t cause the oil to spill over the sides.
A little note: One carrier oil is enough, in my opinion. But feel free to mix different oils together, like I suggest in my DIY eyelash serum.

How to use this DIY eyebrow growth serum
Patch Test
It is of utmost importance to do a patch test before using this product! Some of the ingredients are known irritants, and we want to avoid the allergic reaction happening near your eyes!
For a patch test, you make a small amount of the serum and apply it to the sensitive skin on the inside of your elbow. Leave it there for 20 minutes. If no skin irritation occurs within the next 24-48 hours, you’re good to go.
Application
Use a mascara wand, a cotton swab, or your clean finger to apply the DIY eyebrow growth serum to your eyebrows, going over them once or twice. There’s no need to saturate your brows with the oil.
Leave the serum on your eyebrows for an hour. Or simply leave it on and let it absorb into your skin, as long as you don’t mind walking around with oily eyebrows. Apply the serum once per day for best results.
Storage
Store this homemade eyebrow serum in a dry, cool place such as your bathroom cupboard and out of direct sunlight.
The shelf life will depend on the expiry date of the oils you’re using. Generally, this serum will last for 6-12 months.

Top Tip
This easy DIY eyebrow serum recipe can also be used for your hair! Simply massage the oil into the roots of your hair, all over your scalp, and leave it on for about an hour. Wash your hair as per usual.
Warnings & Safety
Some of the ingredients, such as castor oil, are known irritants. Therefore, as always, I recommend doing a patch test prior to use (you can see how under ‘instructions’).
Please do not use this eyebrow growth serum on your eyelashes! This recipe is not suitable for the delicate area of your eyes—even though we’re using similar ingredients. Please refer to my eyelash serum recipe to make a separate serum for your lashes.
